Wix Pricing and Plans Explained: Which One to Choose and Why (2025)

Wix is one of the most popular website builders available. The tool is easy to use, comes with hundreds of high-quality templates, and offers integrations with hundreds of popular tools. But which plan provides the best value? I’ve taken a close look at Wix pricing to help you figure that out.

Note that the prices listed in this article are based on US dollars. Wix offers plans in a variety of currencies including Euros, Australian dollars, and more. If you live outside of the US, the plans will be the same, but the pricing may look different. However, the pricing is often quite similar, so you can use this article to get a rough idea of how much you’ll pay regardless of where you are.

In this guide, we will explore:

By the time you’re finished reading, you should understand the cost of Wix premium plans and know what Wix plan is best for your business.

🆓 The free Wix plan

We generally don’t recommend using a free site for a business website, but when we’re talking about Wix prices, it’s important to note that Wix does offer a free plan. The free plan gives you access to the Wix site building tool, SEO tools, quality hosting with 99.9% guaranteed uptime and great loading speeds. Plus you’ll get hundreds of professionally designed templates to choose from.

Unfortunately, the free version of Wix also comes with strict limitations:

  • Maximum storage of 500MB
  • Maximum monthly bandwidth of 500MB
  • Wix ads
  • No ability to accept online payment
  • Wix subdomain only with no option to connect a custom domain
  • No access to Google Analytics

These limitations make the free version of Wix alright for a hobby site or a portfolio, but less than ideal for a business site.

🗺️ Wix pricing

Wix used to have a complex payment scheme with tiered plans for personal websites and a separate category of plans for business/ecommerce websites. This was eliminated in 2023 and replaced with four straightforward plans for personal, small business, and medium-sized business websites.

All four plans remove Wix branding and ads, and include a free domain name for the first year.

Here’s a  quick look  at what else these plans have to offer:

Light

The Light plan is the most affordable Wix plan that doesn’t have ads. You’ll also get access to more storage, analytics, and the ability to embed lead capture forms directly on your site.

⚙️ Notable features

  • Two collaborators
  • Up to four lead capture forms with ten fields per form
  • 2 GB storage
  • Light marketing suite

⛔ Notable limitations

  • No ability to accept online payments or ecommerce tools.
  • Customers / website visitors cannot create their own accounts on your site.

💵 Cost:
The Light plan costs $17.00 per month, for a total of $204 per year. In the second year you’ll need to pay separately for your domain, which will cost an additional $10 to $45. The exact cost will depend on your specific domain extension and whether or not you want domain privacy protection.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Light plan is ideal for users who want to create a blog, portfolio website, or personal/hobby website.

Core

The Core plan is built for small businesses and includes access to significantly more storage space - 50 GB - with basic ecommerce features.

⚙️ Notable features

  • Up to five collaborators
  • Basic marketing suite
  • Basic analytics
  • 50 GB regular storage
  • Ten lead capture forms
  • Dropshipping by Modalyst for up to 25 products
  • Ability to collect and display customer reviews
  • Access to loyalty program that lets customers earn and redeem points
  • Back in stock notification feature – send up to ten notifications per month
  • Many business expansion features (e.g., sell courses, sell tickets to events, sell artwork, take online orders for restaurants, accept hotel bookings, etc)

⛔ Notable limitations

  • Lack of automated sales tax
  • No referral links to let customers promote your site
  • No ability to sell in multiple currencies

💵 Cost:
The Core plan costs $29.00 per month, which adds up to $348 per year. Just as with the Light plan, in the second year you’ll also need to pay separately for your domain, which will cost an additional $10 to $45.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Core plan is ideal for anyone looking to open a website for their hotel, restaurant, or events-based business. This can also be a suitable plan for users who want to start an ecommerce store with limited products. The lack of automated sales tax can make the higher-tier plans more appealing for this purpose though.

Business

This plan is built for small businesses with more advanced ecommerce needs. You'll get access to everything in the Core plan, plus automated sales tax for up to 100 transactions per month and expanded tools for the loyalty program. For example, you'll be able to create loyalty tier levels and set loyalty points to expire.

⚙️ Notable features

  • Up to 10 collaborators
  • Standard marketing suite
  • Standard analytics
  • 100 GB regular storage
  • 25 lead capture forms
  • Unlimited back-in-stock notifications
  • Automated sales tax
  • Dropshipping by Modalyst for up to 250 products
  • Referral links
  • Primary currency + five additional currencies

⛔ Notable limitations

  • Limit of 100 transactions for automated sales tax

💵 Cost:
The Business plan costs $36.00 per month, for a total of $432 per year. As with the first two plans, in the second year you’ll need to pay separately for your domain, which will cost an additional $10 to $45.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

The Business plan is ideal for users who want to create an ecommerce store with a significant range of products and/or get access to tools for things like sales tax, referral links, and additional loyalty program options.

If you run a vacation rental or hotel business and you do a lot of business then it’s significantly more attractive than the Core plan. This is because it lets you accept reservations for up to two years out, and you can make bulk updates to your room availability and pricing for 365 days in advance. Compare that to the Core plan, which caps you at one year out and limits your bulk updates to only 30 days.

Lastly, due to its 100 GB storage limit, the Business plan can also be ideal for any kind of business with significant storage needs.

Business Elite

This plan is designed for medium-sized businesses with complex ecommerce needs. You'll get everything in the Business plan, but with significantly more horsepower under the hood and higher limits on several key features. Developers will also enjoy the advanced developer platform available with this plan.

⚙️ Notable features

  • Up to 100 collaborators
  • Advanced marketing suite
  • Advanced analytics
  • Unlimited regular storage
  • Advanced ecommerce features
  • 50,000 product sales through Dropshipping by Modalyst
  • Most hotel management features with limits on lower plans are upgraded to unlimited
  • Primary currency plus ten more
  • Custom reports for Wix Fit

⛔ Notable limitations

This plan has no notable limitations for most businesses.

💵 Cost:
The Business Elite plan costs $159 per month, for a total of $1908 per year. As with the other plans, you’ll need to pay separately for your domain starting in the second year. This will cost an additional $10 to $45 per year.

🙋‍♀️ Who this plan is best for

This plan is ideal for medium-sized businesses that sell a wide range of products and want to build brand loyalty. It’s also particularly well-suited for high-volume hotels or vacation rental businesses.

🤼‍♂️ How do the Wix plans compare to the competition?

Understanding Wix pricing and plans is great, but in order to make an informed decision, you’ll need to understand how Wix stacks up against the competition. To help you with this part of the decision, we’ll look at three options: Squarespace, Shopify, and WordPress + Bluehost.

Squarespace

Squarespace is a popular website builder, powering more than 5.5 million websites. The company offers four plans:

Squarespace pricing

You’ll note that the first Squarespace plan, Basic, costs only a dollar less than Wix’s Light plan: $16 per month. However, it has some additional features that give it the upper hand: unlimited storage (but with video storage capped at 30 minutes), SEO tools and analytics, and integrated ecommerce tools (including unlimited products). In contrast, Wix’s Light plan doesn’t include any ecommerce capabilities – you can’t even take payments.

As for the other pricing plans, they’re actually more affordable than comparable Wix plans.

For just $23 per month, you can unlock unlimited users and a suite of additional ecommerce features like an announcement bar, a donation block, and other premium integrations. Credit card rates on this plan start at 2.9% + 30¢ per transaction.

Alternatively, you can pay $39 per month to reduce credit card processing to 2.7% + 30¢, and get additional benefits like API integrations for advanced sales functionality.

Finally, if you want to reduce credit card rates even further to only 2.5% + 30¢ and get price breaks on some of the other features like digital content and memberships transaction fees, then it’ll cost you $99 per month. Depending on how much sales volume you’re handling (and your per item cost), this might result in an overall net save compared to the cheaper plans or to Wix.

Shopify

Shopify is a specialized ecommerce website builder that powers over 5.5 million active websites. Shopify has four main pricing plans:

Shopify pricing in 2025.

There is also a very basic Starter plan for $5 per month and a Retail plan for $89 per month. The former is more geared toward social media selling, while the latter is aimed at brick-and-mortar stores that want to leverage Shopify’s platform for a hybrid customer sales experience.

Aside from the dirt cheap Starter plan, Shopify’s pricing is much more expensive than Wix pricing, with the Basic plan starting at $29 per month (on an annual contract), plus significant transaction fees (2.9% + $0.30USD for most credit cards). So if pricing is your main concern, you’ll probably want to avoid Shopify.

However, it’s worth noting that Shopify does include advanced tools for displaying ecommerce products. It also lets you manage physical inventory across multiple locations. On top of that it sets you up with significant shipping discounts when using USPS.

What does all that mean?

It means that even though the sticker price for Shopify is more than Wix, you might save money if you’re shipping a lot of products via USPS, and you’ll also get a lot of powerful ecommerce tools right out of the box. In short, it might still be a better choice for the right type of business. The devil is in the details.

Bluehost + WordPress

The final option we want to look at is Bluehost + WordPress.

Bluehost is a highly respected web host that powers over 1.39 million websites. Their entry-level shared hosting plan for a WordPress site is only $1.99 per month for your initial year. To lock in that price you are required to pay for the full year up front, but if you do the math, it’s significantly cheaper than even the cheapest Wix pricing option.

WordPress is a free Content Management System (CMS) that powers over 43.4% of all websites on the entire internet. The base WordPress system is a bit more complicated to manage than Wix, but the built-in block editor makes it easy to build pages without knowing any code. Moreover, there are thousands of plugins – many of them free – that you can use to add features like ecommerce, paid memberships, online courses, and more. This makes the software much more flexible than a Wix website.

Best of all, if you use Bluehost with WordPress, you can take advantage of their website builder. It uses WordPress, which means you can use all of the aforementioned plugins, but it simplifies the process of creating and customizing your website. It’s still a bit more complicated than Wix, but it’s more accessible for first-timers than the default WordPress setup. And it doesn’t cost anything extra.

All in all, the cost of Wix Website plans is considerable for what they offer. If you really want to work with the Wix website builder, we recommend investing in one of the more flexible business and ecommerce plans.

Wix pricing FAQ

How much does Wix cost per month?

The monthly cost of Wix depends on the Wix pricing plan you choose and your location. The following Wix pricing is available for US residents:

Wix Light: $17 per month, billed annually ($204 per year).
Wix Core: $29 per month, billed annually ($348 per year).
Wix Business: $36 per month, billed annually ($432 per year).
Wix Business Elite: $159 per month, blled annually ($1908 per year).

Are there any additional Wix fees?

In your first term, you don’t have to pay anything except for the hosting fee. However, when you renew your site, you’ll have to pay a separate registration fee (typically $14.95 per year + the cost of domain privacy) for your domain. This also doesn’t include domain privacy, so if you want to protect your information, you’ll have to pay an additional fee for that as well.

There may be other fees as well, depending on how you plan to use Wix. For example, if you need professional email, you’ll have to purchase that separately. Many of the apps in the App Marketplace also require additional fees.

What is Wix domain cost?

Renewing your domain registration will cost $14.95 per year, plus $9.90 per year for domain privacy, totaling $24.85 per year. You can reduce the main registration fee to $12.95 per year by renewing for three years. Note that the cost may vary based on the domain extension you choose.

How many Wix premium plans are there?

There are four Wix Website plans.

Is Wix free?

Wix does offer a free plan with 500MB of storage and 500MB of bandwidth. All free Wix sites use subdomains and have ads placed on them to cover the cost of hosting.

Is there a Wix free trial?

There is no free trial for Wix. However, there is a 14-day money-back guarantee. If you decide Wix isn’t for you within two weeks of paying for your plan, you’ll get a full refund, no questions asked.

What does Wix cost outside of the US?

Wix offers plans in many different currencies. The prices also vary somewhat based on where you live, though they’re generally similar to US prices.

Final advice on Wix pricing

All in all, Wix pricing is more affordable than popular competitors, like Squarespace and Shopify. However, the Website plans offer limited monetization options; you can get the best value for your dollar by investing in the Business Basic plan right away. This will give you access to all of the tools you need to monetize your business by selling products, services, and event tickets.
